

ITN Travel Club of Tucson, Arizona

The ITN Travel Club of Tucson meets the second Sunday of the month, September through May, at the Nanini Library. This library is located at 7300 North Shannon Road, in the Northwest Tucson area. Participants of the club meet to enjoy presentations which may include slides, videos, photographs, brochures, etc. of their trips. We have no dues, nor elected officers.

Dec. 11 - Inca Empire and Machu Picchu
This 2-part video program comprehensively and extensively reveals the amazing Pre-Columbian Inca Empire of today's Peruvian Andes Mountains and its famous, mysterious citadel at Machu Picchu. The 2 programs will be presented together on this one date with an introduction and post viewing questions and discussion by Gordon McCall.
Jan 8 - Walking the Dordogne River Valley
In Southwestern France, this educational travel video program takes us walking in the lovely springtime Dordogne River Valley. Its history, culture, and geography will be explored as we walk and visit some of France's most beautiful and well-preserved medieval villages and towns. It concludes with a wondrous exploration of pre-historic cave art inside the famous Lascaux Caves. An introduction and post-viewing discussion by Gordon McCall is included
Feb 12 - Patagonia, Tierra Del Fuego, and Chilean Fjords
Join us on an epic travel adventure to Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, where you can follow in the footsteps of Ferdinand Magellan and Sir Francis Drake to discover dramatic and unspoiled landscapes at the ends of the earth.On this southernmost adventure in the Americas, we’ll enjoy a firsthand look at the legendary landscapes of Argentina and Chile. March 11 - Italy
Revisited
Hot, humid, noisy and crowded, but Italy has a charm that overcomes all its shortcomings. Jan & Chuck McGary will present pictures and tales of their summer visit to Italy. Traveling independently, they arrived in Rome and departed from Milan, making return stops to Rome, Florence and Venice along with revisiting lesser known towns and villages.
April - 15 - Tanzania and Rwanda
Tanzania and Rwanda The Serengeti is every adventurer’s ultimate destination: these legendary plains teem with one of the densest concentrations of wildlife on Earth. We’ll see all of the “Big Five”- and many more animals who survival here amidst grand backdrops, such as magnificent Tarangire National Park, and Ngorongoro Crater, a 12-mile wide, 2,000-foot deep caldera. We explore it all, as we seek out the most elusive game. And we immerse ourselves in the local culture through rewarding visits to schools and villages. Then we journey to Rwanda to experience one of the world’s greatest wildlife encounters—the rare mountain gorilla. We will walk in the footsteps of Dian Fossey into the mist-shrouded slopes of Rwanda’s Virunga Volcanoes for an intimate encounter with these magnificent, gentle creatures. We’ll also discover the warmth of the Rwandan people and witness the stunning scenic beauty of one of Africa’s most magical destinations. May 13 - Gilded Age
In the 19th century, America's wealthy elite built fabulous mansions and imitated the lifestyles of European nobility. Some of these mansions still stand and are open to visitors. Jan and Chuck McGary visited many of them on their summer RV trip to the East Coast. They learned about the privileged way of life that the industrial giant's families enjoyed--the Vanderbilts, Rockefellers, Ringlings and others.
